Vung Vieng fishing village is off the beaten track belonging to the heart of Bai Tu Long Bay, 24km from the mainland. It is one of the most appealing attractions in the bay alluring tourists by its marvelous natural landscapes and pristine setting.

Vung Vieng is the less touristy, so it still keeps its the traditional character. Nestled among the limestone peaks, the village is sheltered from the ocean waves or strong winds, especially in typhoon season. There are about 50 families living in clusters of houses anchored within the natural protection of surrounding mountainous islands. The population is between 200 and 300 residents with nearly 100 children.

Coming there, you will have a great chance to immerse in the quiet and peaceful atmosphere, get close touch to the pristine marvelous caves and grottoes and discover the cultural life of the fishermen. It is so interesting to take part in some activities like sailing, making of fishing nets, pulling and dropping net off and fishing.

You will also be enchanted by the beauty of the boats, the nets in front of the house, the simple yet hospitable locals, and the small children with cheerful smiles as they go to school. This scenery is so  idyllic and peaceful.

The beauty of Vung Vieng is also the harmony of floating houses and the rafts mingling together. They look spacious and clean. The well-off families even have tiled roof houses with radios, television sets, tables and chairs, etc. There is one community house here where villagers come to have meetings. Here is also the place tourists stopover to shop some traditional hand made items.

Vung Vieng fishing village is an ideal place for those who are looking for the local life’s experience. After disembarking the mother boat, you will be transferred by rowing boats or kayaks to enter Vung Vieng. The village offers a chance for you to understand more about the villager’s daily life as well as observe the traditional culture and customs of the fishermen.
